SNCB/NMBS is seeking a Project Manager Building IT Systems to lead end-to-end projects within the Building IT Systems team. You will set up and deliver projects, manage scope, schedule and budget, and coordinate multiple suppliers and internal teams.

Expect regular travel to SNCB locations across Belgium and neighboring countries, with a competitive salary and strong benefits. You bring a Bachelor in electronics/electrical engineering and 10+ years in a similar role, plus PM² and safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in electronics or electrical engineering or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of experience in a similar position.
• Willingness to travel regularly to SNCB locations in Belgium and nearby countries.

Responsabilités

• Lead end-to-end project management from initiation to delivery.

• Define detailed scope, schedule and budget with stakeholders and timely reporting.
• Prepare and present monthly Project Status Reports to stakeholders.

What is your role at SNCB/NMBS?

Our Operations department is a unique combination of teams that provide end-user services and support.

As Project Manager Building IT Systems you are part of the Building IT Systems project team and you are responsible for setting up and delivering one or more projects within your field of expertise.

Your tasks are as follows:

Project management from a to z:

• Project initiation and planning
• the high level scope of a project, the schedule & the budget
• Estimate the effort and cost of the implementation by experts, team members and an external contractor
• Determine the detailed scope, planning & budget and communicate this information to the project team (kick-off)
• Manage and follow up the risks and problems with the project team and if necessary escape to management and customer in time and find solutions together
• Represent the customer at the delivery of the project and capture the “lessons learned”
• Ensure the necessary transfer, documentation and training to the other teams involved (including the support teams)
• Maintain a helicopter view of current projects
• Project follow-up of internal and external stakeholders
• Reporting to the organisation

Coordination:

• Coordination of multiple project at the same time, depending on size
• Coordination of multiple different supplier per project
• Coordination of project team members

Conduct studies:

• Design a detailed study in accordance with applicable standards in consultation with the contractor
• Determine the functional specifications for existing and new solutions or to replace existing technology solutions
• Validate the offers submitted by the suppliers
• Draw up specification texts, measurement statements and study plans for the customer's tender

Reporting and follow-up:

• Regularly inform the Business Project Manager about the progress of the project
• Provide a monthly update through a Project Status Report to various stakeholders
• Ensure a monthly follow-up of the actual cost, effort, progress

Third line support

• Intervene in case of problems and escalations of incidents (eg serious cable breaks, ...)
• Analyse the situation
• Contact the parties involved
• Initiate the necessary actions and ensure that the problem is resolved

You hold a Bachelor degree in electronics / electrical engineering or equivalent through experience.

You have at least 10 years of experience in a similar position.

You also possess these technical skills:

• Structured cabling & fiber optic cabling
• Installation of power boards (low voltage) and associated infrastructure
• Housing (racks, patch panels, ODF, ...)
• Physical Security Systems
• Civil works and installation works (indoor & outdoor)
• ARAB / AREI
• VCA and safety on sites with regard to installation work
• IT & Telecom Networks (Fixed and Mobile Networks)
• Building Automation

And these soft skills:

• Keeping calm in difficult discussions with the customer, team members and suppliers
• Creating alignment within the project team
• Solution oriented mindset
• Networking and getting to know the organisation
• Strong integrity and self-reflection for improvement
• Good knowledge of Dutch, French and English, both orally and in writing
• You have strong communication skills, are customer-oriented and have a sense of initiative
• You are willing to make regular trips to other SNCB locations (stations, workshops,…) all over Belgium and sometimes also across the border in neighboring countries.
• BA4 / BA5 certification is recommended
• PM² certified
