Description du poste

About the role

As Technical Engineer within Operations Support, you’re the driving force that ensures our dredging projects kick off strong, safe and technically sound. You turn plans into smart execution solutions, streamline mobilisations and raise our technical standards across the board. With your expertise, sharp eye and hands‑on mindset, you power the technical backbone of a flawlessly prepared and efficiently organised project start.

Jan De Nul Group is synonymous with dredging and land reclamation projects – worldwide and at the highest level! We owe our position as a global player to our technically innovative expertise and the most modern dredging fleet in the world. Since standing still means falling behind, we continue to invest in the future, our fleet, and our personnel.

What you’ll do

A good start is half the battle won. That’s exactly what the Operations Support department stands for. Even before a dredging project begins, they ensure thorough preparation from the head office. Their goal? To provide the on‑site project team with a complete and workable plan – the key to efficient, safe, and cost‑effective execution.

As a Technical Engineer, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • You develop execution plans based on input from the tender engineers, with attention to technical feasibility, safety, and efficiency.
  • You consult with contractors, suppliers, and engineering firms to align on technical requirements.
  • You work closely with the team to develop in‑depth technical advice that is crucial to the success of the project (e.g. lifting plans, technical drawings, etc.).
  • You analyse and optimise processes related to mobilisation and logistics, and contribute to their standardisation within the organisation.
  • You translate operational needs into technical specifications and draw up a detailed equipment list, including technical requirements.
  • You guide the technical preparation of the mobilisation phase, monitor the technical quality of execution, and provide support during the start‑up on site.
  • You identify technical issues at an early stage and collaborate with internal experts and external partners to develop targeted solutions.
  • You document technical knowledge, lessons learned, and areas for improvement, and ensure feedback is shared with the JDN knowledge system and relevant departments.

What do you need to have?

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial sciences, engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least two years of technical experience.
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written. Do you speak Dutch and/or additional languages? That’s considered a plus.
  • The essential mindset of a solution seeker.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills to maintain a clear overview of ongoing projects and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, allowing you to easily build new connections and collaborate with various departments and colleagues.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel abroad to project sites for handover and start‑up of operations.
