Description du poste

As an engineer at Jan De Nul, you lead one of our dredging projects. You might be building a new harbor in Georgia, preparing the seabed for a wind energy project in France, or constructing a breakwater in Benin. You will experience an intense work-life and gain invaluable expertise along the way.

Jan De Nul has the world’s most advanced dredging fleet, designed for efficient marine transport, modern harbors, coastal protection, and reclamation projects for offshore wind energy. To support this, we have a strong need for talented engineers to oversee diverse global projects as superintendents.

Your Role
A Job With Opportunities And Responsibilities
At Jan De Nul, we give talented people like you opportunities and responsibilities. You will supervise one of our projects worldwide during the execution phase.

You start with four weeks training: experts who came before you will teach you everything there is to know. And you will get to practice in one of our virtual simulators. Next, you will travel to the project where we need you the most. This could be anywhere in the world. Your tasks will be:

  • Research the most cost-effective method to carry out the works, supervise the works on a daily base, monitor health, safety and quality standards closely.
  • Report to the office in Aalst: you are their eyes and ears on board. Work closely together with the crew and captain.
  • You are very close to the operational implementation of the projects and thus come into contact with diverse situations.

Of course, you will not be doing this on your own: you can rely on the support of your project manager and colleagues in different disciplines within the project team. You will grow and learn every day, and we will help you.

Two months on, one month off
As an expat on one of our global projects, you will work within a different work regime. This usually includes two months of 12-hour work days, six days a week, followed by one month off. This work regime may vary depending on the project. It is demanding work, but you will gain a wealth of knowledge and experience and during your month off, you are free to live life your way.

What do you need to have?

  • A master’s degree in industrial sciences or a master’s in engineering sciences, or related master’s degree.
  • The indispensable mindset of a solution seeker
  • The passion to dive into the world of dredging solutions
  • Planning and organisation talent
  • Teamwork skills
  • Thirst for adventure, coupled with an independent spirit
