Description du poste

About the role

As Project Engineer within Operations Support, you ensure our dredging projects kick off strong, safe and efficiently from day one. You turn plans into clear execution frameworks, coordinate with internal and external partners and drive a smooth, well‑structured mobilisation. With your technical insight, structured mindset and solution‑driven approach, you power the solid, well‑prepared start every project needs.

Jan De Nul Group is synonymous with dredging and land reclamation projects – worldwide and at the highest level! We owe our position as a global player to our technically innovative expertise and the most modern dredging fleet in the world. Since standing still means falling behind, we continue to invest in the future, our fleet, and our personnel. As an engineer at Jan De Nul, you help ensure our dredging projects run smoothly.

What you’ll do

A good start is half the battle won. That’s exactly what the Operations Support department stands for. Even before a dredging project begins, they ensure thorough preparation from the head office. Their goal? To provide the on‑site project team with a complete and workable plan – the key to efficient, safe, and cost‑effective execution.

  • You further develop the execution plans based on input from the tender engineers. To do this, you coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and engineering firms where necessary.
  • You coordinate with various internal departments to come to a clear plan and a well‑defined division of roles.
  • You work closely with the Construction (Works) Manager Dredging Operations Support on the assigned project.
  • You oversee communication between all parties involved and ensure that the chosen approach is safe, effective, and cost‑efficient.
  • You prepare detailed operational requirements and the corresponding equipment list in preparation for the mobilisation phase. You organise this process, monitor its proper execution, and actively support the start‑up of mobilisation.
  • You respond quickly to problems and collaborate with the appropriate departments to work out solutions.
  • You actively contribute to the optimisation of processes and methods, and ensure best practices are shared within the team and across the organisation.

What do you need?

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial or civil engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least four years of technical experience on dredging projects.
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written. Do you speak Dutch and/or additional languages? That’s considered an asset.
  • The essential mindset of a solution seeker.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills to maintain a clear overview of ongoing projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling you to easily build new connections and collaborate with various departments and colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel abroad for short assignments to support or hand over on‑site operations.
