Dataroots, a Talan company, is seeking an AI Engineering Team Lead who stays hands-on while guiding a team of AI engineers. You will design, build and deploy AI solutions that deliver real business value for our clients, from classic ML to GenAI and Agentic AI, using robust MLOps practices.

Alongside client work you’ll coach colleagues, contribute to hiring and business development, and help shape the direction of our AI Engineering practice with practical, project-backed leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years delivering AI solutions in consulting or client-facing environments.
• Strong software engineering skills with Python and SQL.
• Experience building production-ready ML and GenAI systems.
• Solid understanding of GenAI, retrieval systems, Agentic AI, MLOps and LLMOps.
• Experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Fluency in English and Dutch.

The Job

As an AI Engineering Team Lead, you remain first and foremost an AI engineering consultant. Most of your time is spent designing, building and deploying AI solutions that deliver real business value for our clients. From classical machine learning to modern GenAI and Agentic AI applications, you help bring AI systems into production using robust software engineering, MLOps and LLMOps practices.

Alongside your client work, you lead a team of AI engineers. You coach colleagues, support their growth and wellbeing, contribute to hiring and business development, and help shape the direction of our AI Engineering practice. Because you remain hands-on yourself, your leadership is grounded in real project experience.

What we're looking for

AI Engineering

• A deep passion for Artificial Intelligence and its applications.
• 5+ years of experience delivering AI solutions in consulting or client-facing environments.
• Strong software engineering skills with Python and SQL.
• Experience building production-ready machine learning and Generative AI systems.
• Solid understanding of modern GenAI, retrieval systems, Agentic AI, MLOPs and LLMOps.
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Strong communication skills and a pragmatic, business-oriented mindset.
• Fluency in English and Dutch.

Leadership

In addition to being an experienced AI consultant, you're excited to take ownership beyond your own client work.

• Coordinate and support a team of consultants towards shared goals and objectives.
• Coach and mentor colleagues, helping them grow both technically and professionally.

• Contribute to business development efforts, proposals and value propositions.
• Communicate effectively with team members, clients and other stakeholders.
