ESA is recruiting a State aid Legal Officer to join its Competition and State aid Directorate (CSA). CSA is a multi-disciplinary team of economists and lawyers enforcing state aid rules within the EEA.

The successful candidate will assess and handle state aid cases, examine complaints and notifications, and draft guidelines, decisions and legal opinions. Essential requirements include a law degree and at least five years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• University degree in law.
• At least 5 years of demonstrated relevant professional experience.
• Expert knowledge and extensive practical experience in EU and/or EEA state aid law.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
• Excellent legal drafting skills and ability to prepare robust decisions and opinions.
• Proven ability to cooperate with stakeholders.

• Prepare various state aid guidelines.
• Draft decisions and legal opinions on state aid effects and procedures.
