Axelera AI is seeking a Staff AI Application Engineer to design and implement a model enablement platform that orchestrates model execution across Metis and Europa AIPUs, host CPUs and accelerators. You will shape end-to-end performance with a strong focus on scheduling, memory movement and verification.

You will lead frontend/graph integration, while backend device engineers handle runtime concerns. The role emphasizes hands-on development, mentoring and collaboration with AI agents to deliver

Qualifications

• 8+ years of engineering experience in systems, compilers, runtimes or performance, with system-level design ownership.
• Experience with heterogeneous computing across CPU, GPU, DSP, NPU or FPGA, including data movement considerations.
• Solid fundamentals in computer architecture, operating systems and parallel programming.
• Familiarity with ML graph representations and compiler concepts: graph capture (torch.export, FX, ONNX), lowering, operator fusion, partitioning, memory planning.
• Strong C++ and Python programming skills.
• Daily use of AI coding agents on real engineering work, with judgment to review and test outputs.

Responsabilités

• Model enablement platform and agent harness: Build reusable tools to partition, compile, run and profile models across hardware with CI verification.
• Model ingestion: Capture, analyse and split models across AIPU matrix, vector units, host CPU and accelerators with placement tags.
• Heterogeneous execution: Extend split to large models, cascades and multi-model pipelines with caching and offloading.
• End-to-end performance: Collaborate with pipeline builders and runtime team to optimize overlap, zero-copy buffers, batching and scheduling.
• Critical models: Study models important to customers and turn lessons into platform improvements.
