Job summary

Companion.energy is hiring an Applied AI Engineer in Ghent/Ghent area to own the foundation of agentic features. You will shape the architecture, evaluation harnesses, tool surface, model choice, and guardrails that let AI workflows run reliably for large enterprise customers.

We ship multi-model, streaming and long-running AI tasks in energy management contexts, ensuring performance and security as we scale. Hybrid work in Belgium is supported.

Qualifications

• Experience building agentic systems that run for paying customers with deterministic steps and evals.
• Design and build tools surfaces and model-guided workflows with attention to latency and cost.
• Knowledge of energy markets, contracts, tariffs, or related domains is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define the agentic architecture, tools exposure, and context management.
• Develop evaluation harnesses and datasets to ensure stable product behavior.
• Build tool surfaces for models rather than humans and handle multi-model orchestration.
• Ensure cost, latency, and reliability constraints are met as product requirements.
• Implement guardrails that are permission-aware, tenant-isolated, and auditable.
