Job summary

ING Belgium is seeking a skilled IT Solution Architect with a focus on Know Your Customer (KYC). You will craft resilient architectures aligned with ING Belgium and Group strategy, working with IT and business stakeholders across Tribes.

You will guide engineers and Domain Architects, translate business needs into tech solutions, and drive end-to-end design and roadmaps. Strong English and Dutch or French skills are required.

Qualifications

• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in solution architecture, software engineering, or IT delivery.
• Affinity with architectural practices and translating business requirements into sustainable tech.
• TOGAF, ArchiMate or Public Cloud certifications are a plus.
• Broad knowledge of banking technology, with KYC knowledge being an asset.
• Proficient in English; Dutch or French is a plus.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to design end-to-end solutions balancing functional and non-functional needs.

Your role & work environment

We are looking a Solution Architect with experience or a broad interest in the area of Know Your Customer (KYC). The focus of your architecture activities will be to establish resilient solution architectures for business and IT problems in line with the ING Belgium and Group strategy.

A day in the life of an IT Solution Architect

• You are working in cooperation with IT and Business stakeholders recognizing the correlation / dependencies between their activities.
• You create your designs in close collaboration with the engineers and Domain Architects, guiding them to the deployment of the design.
• You drive to make complex changes or projects happen within and across Tribes. Your holistic view as well as your knowledge of both Business and IT are crucial in the translation of business requirements in a sequence that delivers customer value as early as possible.
• You define and align the roadmaps between squads – from same or different Tribes – and other parts of the organization and thoroughly manage dependencies.
• You are the connecting pin between colleagues having different expertise in self-steering teams (squads). Your colleagues will be IT Integrators, IT Solution Architects, Engineers, Domain Architects, Product Owners or Squad Masters, Developers, Customer Journey Experts, etc.
• You are a driver of the solution approach (together with squads) using in-depth knowledge of Business and IT such as architecture, application landscapes, infrastructure, business operations and legislation.

As a Solution Architect, you will also need:

• At least 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in solution architecture, software engineering, or IT delivery.
• Affinity with architectural practices, solution design, and translating business requirements into sustainable technology solutions.
• TOGAF, ArchiMate, and/or Public Cloud certifications are considered a plus.
• Broad interest in banking technology, with knowledge of domains such Know Your Customer (KYC) being an asset.
• Proficient in English (ING's corporate language) and Dutch or French.
• Strong behavioural competencies: collaboration, communication, stakeholder management, innovation, and the ability to navigate complexity and drive pragmatic decision-making.
• Strong technical competencies with attention to architecture principles, data, privacy, security, scalability, performance, resilience, cost and ethics. Able to work autonomously and act as a trusted advisor and sparring partner for engineers, product teams, and fellow architects.
• Ability to design end-to-end solutions, balance functional and non-functional requirements, and document architectural decisions in a clear and structured manner.

The team

You will be in a team of IT Solution Architects and Domain Architects. They are part of COE Architecture BE working together with numerous stakeholders being at the heart of the delivery of Features with the Tribes.
