Job summary

Showpad is seeking a Backend Engineer to join a Sales Content Management team. You’ll build and maintain service-oriented, event-driven backends, APIs, and integrations that power Sales Enablement and Marketing Content owners.

The role emphasizes ownership of features and collaborative design in a service ecosystem. You’ll work in a hybrid setup in Ghent, contribute to reliability and security, and help shape architectures used by thousands of users globally.

Software Engineer, Backend, Sales Content Management

Location Qualifications:
Ghent (hybrid 2x week in office)

About the position

As a Backend Engineer in one of our Sales Content Management teams, you will help build innovative solutions that transform how sales content is created, organized, and distributed. You'll develop and maintain service-oriented, event-driven systems and APIs that power the work of Sales Enablement Specialists and Marketing Content Owners. Working closely with senior engineers, you'll take ownership of well-scoped features and contribute to technical and product discussions, shaping designs that deliver real value to users. Instead of working in a monolith, you'll work within an ecosystem of services and play a part in improving their reliability and quality. Your work will directly influence the end-user experience for all our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Build high-throughput, maintainable backend services and API integrations using Node.js, TypeScript, or Go.


• Help implement and maintain our growing ecosystem of microservices.


• Work in teams where code reviews and pair programming are part of our strong engineering culture, learning from experienced engineers and sharing what you know.


• Apply a security-first approach to the features and changes you deliver.


• Grow your technical and architectural skills through mentoring from senior engineers, and support more junior colleagues where you can.


• Keep the bigger picture in mind, because your work will reach 100,000 users globally.

Must haves

• 3+ years developing production-ready backend systems.


• Solid proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js. Experience with JVM languages or Go is a plus.


• Experience architecting and deploying services on AWS (e.g., Lambda, ECS/EKS, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, RDS).


• Working knowledge of event-driven systems (message queues, asynchronous workflows). Experience with serverless architectures and state machines is a plus.


• A solid understanding of why testing matters at every stage, with practical experience writing unit and integration tests. Familiarity with test-driven development is a plus.


• Ability to break down and estimate well-defined pieces of work, and to prioritize them with guidance.


• Ability to model data and queries around feature requirements with performance in mind. Experience in a multi-tenant database environment is a plus.


• A continuous integration and delivery mindset.


• Experience building or consuming APIs, and collaborating with internal or external data consumers.


• A team player mentality, committed to the full software development life cycle in an agile team.
