Job summary

Catalay is seeking a Service Engineer to install, inspect and maintain high‑tech coating machines at customer sites worldwide. You will be hands‑on, interact with customers and help ensure machines are delivered to the highest quality standards.

The role combines technical work with customer contact, requiring travel up to 80% and offering training, mentorship and a supportive international team.

Responsibilities

• Installation and Assembly: Prepare installations and coordinate the assembly of machines at customer sites.
• Technical Quality Control: Inspect machines before dispatch to ensure compliance with drawings and are fully functional.
• Service and Maintenance: Carry out maintenance and service interventions at Europe and overseas.
• Reporting: Document completed work, manage the related administrative follow-up and communicate feedback to the internal organisation.
• Customer Contact and Training: Deliver presentations and training sessions to customers and colleagues, and provide technical explanations of projects and products.

Job description

Are you technically minded, enjoy hands-on work and want to gain international experience? For a technical company specialising in high-tech coating machines, we are looking for a Service Engineer.

You will be responsible for the installation, inspection and maintenance of machines, both in-house and at international customer sites. Combining technical expertise with customer interaction, you will have the opportunity to further develop your skills and knowledge.

Your Responsibilities

• Installation and Assembly: Prepare installations and coordinate the assembly of machines at customer sites.
• Technical Quality Control: Inspect machines before dispatch to ensure they have been correctly assembled, comply with the technical drawings and quotation, and are fully functional.
• Service and Maintenance: Carry out maintenance and service interventions and resolve technical issues and customer complaints, both in Europe and overseas.
• Reporting: Document completed work, manage the related administrative follow-up and communicate feedback to the internal organisation.
• Customer Contact and Training: Deliver presentations and training sessions to customers and colleagues, and provide technical explanations of projects and products.

Your Profile

• You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Electromechanics. Previous experience is an advantage but is not essential.
• You have strong technical insight and a good understanding of electromechanical systems.
• You are eager to learn and continuously develop your technical knowledge.
• You can prioritise tasks and work independently while also being an effective team player.
• You have a practical, hands-on approach, take initiative and possess a customer-oriented and commercially minded attitude.
• You are committed to quality and continuous improvement.
• You have excellent spoken and written Dutch and English skills.
• You are flexible and willing to travel internationally. The role combines in-house support with assignments at customer sites, with up to 80% of your time spent on-site.
