Van Bael & Bellis is seeking a Senior System Engineer to shape, optimize, and secure our IT infrastructure and cloud ecosystem. You will own critical tasks from design to resolution, collaborating with the ICT team and external partners to translate IT strategy into robust solutions across Microsoft 365, Azure, VMware, and security domains.

At Van Bael & Bellis, we see technology as a core driver of our success in international law. As our Senior System Engineer, you won't just be maintaining systems, you will play a key role in shaping, optimizing, and securing our infrastructure and cloud ecosystem.

We are looking for a proactive technical expert who enjoys diving deep into challenges, uncovering root causes, and taking ownership of solutions through to resolution.

Reporting directly to our Head of ICT, you will work closely with our ICT team and specialized technology partners to translate our IT strategy into robust technical solutions across infrastructure, cloud, digital workplace, and cybersecurity.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will combine high-level technical engineering with meaningful involvement in the continued evolution of our IT environment:

• Infrastructure & Cloud Excellence: Maintain and continuously improve our Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, and VMware environments.
• Security & Resilience: Strengthen identity and access security across Entra ID, MFA and Conditional Access, as well as endpoint protection and infrastructure hardening. You will contribute to our continuous vulnerability assessment and security testing processes, investigate identified findings and implement appropriate remediation and hardening measures where required. You will also work with our SOC and security partners to review technical findings, alerts and improvement recommendations and translate them into concrete technical actions.
• Design & Implementation: Participate in infrastructure, cloud and security projects from technical design through to implementation.
• Automation & Standardisation: Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve reliability using modern automation tools.
• Technical Ownership: Work closely with specialised external partners while maintaining strong technical knowledge and ownership within our internal ICT team.
• Core Business Platforms: Help ensure the availability, performance and resilience of the infrastructure supporting our business-critical applications and cloud services.
• Compliance: Provide technical input and evidence supporting our ISO Information Security and Business Continuity frameworks.

What We Are Looking For

You bring solid experience as a System Engineer, including senior/L3-level responsibilities, together with a strong problem-solving mindset and hands-on expertise in:

• Valued Extras: Experience with Azure, Cisco Meraki, Veeam, PAM, SOC/SIEM, vulnerability management, or working within security/compliance frameworks is a strong advantage.
• Languages: Professional fluency in English is essential; knowledge of French or Dutch is a strong advantage.
