Job summary

Médiane Benelux is seeking a Senior IT System Engineer to support high-availability IT environments used in train, tram and metro infrastructure in Belgium.

You will provide 2nd line system support, maintain IT infrastructure, manage incidents, perform updates and patches, and contribute to infrastructure security and continuous improvement. Proficiency in Linux and VMware, plus scripting skills, are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in IT infrastructure and system engineering.
• Proficiency in Linux CentOS/RedHat environments.
• Scripting skills in Bash and/or Python.
• Solid knowledge of VMware vSphere/vCenter/vMotion.
• Experience in high-availability production environments.
• Basic networking knowledge (router, switch, VPN, firewall).
• Strong troubleshooting and on-call support abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd line system support and manage incidents.
• Maintain IT infrastructure and perform updates and patches.
• Document technical procedures and keep documentation up to date.
• Participate in go-live and hypercare periods, sometimes outside business hours.
• Support on-call rotations and incident follow-up.
• Contribute to infrastructure security and continuous improvement.

For one of our clients active in the railway infrastructure sector, we are looking for a Senior IT System Engineer to support high-availability IT environments used in train, tram and metro infrastructure.

Mission

You will provide 2nd line system support, maintain IT infrastructure, manage incidents, perform updates and patches, and contribute to infrastructure security and continuous improvement.

Main Responsibilities

• Maintain, install and configure hardware and software environments.
• Follow up on incidents, failures and changes.
• Perform testing, debugging, updates and patches.
• Provide 2nd line support and participate in on-call rotations.
• Support go-live and hypercare periods, sometimes outside business hours.
• Document technical procedures and keep documentation up to date.

Required Skills
