Job summary

Netcompany Belgium is seeking a Senior System Administrator to ensure reliable ICT operations across our European projects. You will diagnose issues, install and upgrade infrastructure software, and monitor performance while maintaining data centre hardware like servers, UPS, and cabling.

The role emphasizes security compliance and independent troubleshooting. The ideal candidate holds a university degree in IT, at least 6 years of experience, and an ITIL certification.

Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
• Valid ITIL certification is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of data centre hardware infrastructure incl. server installation, racking, cabling and hardware connectivity.
• Solid understanding of Windows and Linux server operating systems.
• Experience with hypervisor solutions, particularly VMware and/or Hyper‑V.
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage and centralised backup systems.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware and software, work independently.
• Excellent English; French knowledge is a plus.

Job Description

As aSenior System Administratoryou will:

• Investigate, diagnose and resolve system-related problems to ensure the reliable operation of ICT systems.
• Install, configure and upgrade infrastructure software, including system monitoring solutions, and test upgrades before implementation.
• Monitor system performance and diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
• Install, maintain and support data centre hardware infrastructure, including servers, enclosures, UPS systems, patch panels, tape libraries and cabling.
• Schedule installations, upgrades and maintenance activities to minimise service disruption.
• Ensure compliance with organisational procedures to maintain system integrity and security.

Qualifications

What would make you a fit for the role:

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or another relevant field, with at least 6 years of relevant professional experience.
• Valid ITIL certification is mandatory.
• Strong technical knowledge of data centre hardware infrastructure, including experience with server installation, racking, cabling and hardware connectivity.
• Solid understanding of Windows and Linux server operating systems.
• Practical experience with hypervisor solutions, particularly VMware and/or Hyper‑V.
• Good knowledge of network storage solutions (SAN/NAS, NetApp/EMC) and centralised backup systems.
• Proven experience in advanced hardware and software troubleshooting, with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent knowledge of English, knowledge of French would be a plus.

It would also be a plus if you have some of the following certifications:

• Microsoft MCSE/MCSA in Windows Server 2012 or above, or equivalent.
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or above.
• Linux Professional Institute LPIC-1 or above.
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or above.
• Dell Systems Administrator (DCS-SA) / Platform Engineer (DCS-PE).
• Disaster Recovery Certified Specialist (DRCS).
