SPACEBEL, a Belgian software engineering and space systems company in Liège, seeks a Senior Remote Sensing Engineer to lead processing chains for satellite imagery and geospatial services. You will automate processing tasks, develop algorithms for radar and optical data (Copernicus), and provide information on forestry, agriculture and risk management as part of international projects.

You will join a small team in the Geospatial Information & Systems department, contributing to missions with

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science, geosciences, bioengineering or remote sensing.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar environment.
• Fluent in French and English.
• Knowledge of Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence techniques, preferably with geospatial data.
• Strong programming skills in Python and R, ideally in a Linux environment.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Rasdaman, Geonetwork, backend APIs, and TypeScript for GIS applications and web-mapping standards.
• Experience with Geographic Information Systems (QGIS, ArcGIS, etc.).
• OpenEO (CDSE) or ENVI experience.
• Experience with drone photogrammetry or spatial remote sensing (optical and/or radar), Sentinel-1/2 preferred.
• Interest in space sector and environmental issues.

Responsabilités

• Develop and maintain automatic processing chains for extracting information from satellite images and making it available online.
• Automate recurring processing operations using appropriate technologies.
• Develop and/or optimize algorithms for exploitation of radar and optical satellite images, including Copernicus products.
• Provide information on natural resources: forestry, agriculture, risk management.
• Participate in Walloon and international projects to deliver tailored services.
