HAEDES seeks an Earth Observation & Geospatial Data Scientist to transform satellite observations into trustworthy, decision-support information for rivers, coasts, estuaries and oceans. You’ll combine Sentinel and Copernicus products with in-situ data and models, building scalable pipelines for monitoring, forecasting and early warning.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Earth Observation, remote sensing, geomatics, geography, environmental science, engineering or closely related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience with Earth Observation, geospatial and/or environmental data.
• Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with C++.
• Practical knowledge of Sentinel missions, Copernicus services and commonly used EO products.
• Experience with satellite-data processing and quality control.
• Strong command of raster and vector data, GIS and geospatial databases.
• Experience integrating heterogeneous spatial and time-series datasets.
• Understanding of resolution, coverage, uncertainty, ground truth and validation.
• Ability to explain technical workflows to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Responsabilités

• Design reproducible workflows to acquire, preprocess, quality-control and analyse EO datasets.
• Develop environmental indicators and data products for water quality, coastal change, flooding and habitat condition.
• Integrate satellite, in-situ, sensor, model and geospatial datasets across scales.
• Build scalable processing pipelines and services for monitoring, forecasting and early warning.
• Connect EO products with GIS platforms, geospatial databases and digital twins.
• Define validation strategies and quantify uncertainty in derived products.
• Translate complex processing methods into clear maps, visualisations and recommendations.
• Contribute to R&D proposals, client projects and partnerships.
