Job summary

Pauwels Consulting is seeking a senior backend architect to shape core architecture and implement AI automation in Brussels. You will lead a team to build scalable cloud environments, APIs, and microservices while integrating AI models and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines.

The role requires 8+ years in backend development with Python and cloud expertise, with a hybrid work model in Brussels. Open to permanent or freelance engagements, with ASAP start and a 3-month initial contract.

Qualifications

8+ years of backend development experience using Python, FastAPI, Celery, and SQLAlchemy.
8+ years of experience with cloud platforms and container orchestration (GCP, GKE, Kubernetes).
Expertise in DevOps including GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD, Helm, and Docker.
Experience with PostgreSQL, SQLModel, and Alembic.
Understanding of cloud infrastructure components (VPC, IAM, Secret Manager, BigQuery).
Security and identity standards such as JWT and REST APIs.
Knowledge of Linux systems, Nginx, and network security tools (ufw, iptables).
Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical development of web services, including APIs, backend systems, and overall architecture.
Serve as a senior advisor to define optimal technologies, tools, and architectures for diverse projects and ventures.
Implement and systematically deploy best practices to ensure sustainable scalability and modular application design.
Develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment and operational efficiency.
Automate internal processes for risk and data analytics teams through custom technical solutions.
Perform AI-based regression testing and programmatically integrate AI models into existing services.
