Job summary

ILIAS is seeking a CARE Platform Operations Engineer to ensure mission-critical environments stay operational. You will work where infrastructure, applications, releases and customer service operations intersect, resolving technical challenges and contributing to improvements through automation and proactive problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Handle technical escalations, including critical incidents and platform defects, with specialist input for complex cases.
• Analyze root causes across infrastructure, applications, databases, cloud, security and network layers, translating findings into preventive actions.
• Improve service reliability by identifying technical debt, incident trends, and supporting resilience testing.
• Validate and execute complex releases and changes, including deployment process improvements and risk reduction through automation.
• Increase efficiency by expanding automation, monitoring, observability, and infrastructure as code practices.
• Collaborate with Operations, Product Engineering, Support, customers and partners, including occasional travel for platform implementations.

What You Will Do

• Handle technical escalations, including critical incidents, recurring problems and ILIAS platform defects that require careful investigation, with specialist input available for the most complex cases.
• Analyze root causes across infrastructure, applications, databases, cloud, security and network layers, and translate findings into clear actions that prevent issues from returning.
• Improve service reliability by identifying technical debt, analyzing incident trends, defining preventive improvements and supporting disaster recovery validation and resilience testing.
• Validate and execute complex releases, changes and implementation activities, including CAB support, deployment process improvements and release‑related risk reduction through automation and standardization.
• Make support more efficient by improving automation, monitoring, observability, operational tooling and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Work with Operations, Product Engineering, Support, customers and technology partners during major incidents, technical customer reviews, onboarding, transition projects and key customer initiatives, including occasional travel to support ILIAS platform implementations at customer locations. You will work with a high degree of independence, with expert technical sparring and guidance available for complex escalations where needed.
