Job summary

Nebiru is seeking a seasoned SQL Server and database engineer to design and industrialise Azure Cosmos DB solutions. You will model data, optimise performance, and automate provisioning with PowerShell, Terraform and CI/CD.

Role focuses on monitoring, security, cost efficiency, data anonymisation for non-prod environments, and governance across Azure SQL and Cosmos DB, with mentoring to elevate team operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in SQL Server DBA or database engineering.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure Cosmos DB.
• Strong NoSQL data modelling and performance tuning.
• Automation experience with PowerShell, Terraform and CI/CD.

Job description

What you will do

• Design and industrialise Azure Cosmos DB solutions, including data modelling, partitioning, indexing and performance optimisation.
• Build reusable database deployment patterns and automate provisioning and operations using PowerShell, Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Improve monitoring, reliability, security and cost efficiency across Azure Cosmos DB, Azure SQL and SQL Server platforms.
• Implement secure, automated data refresh and anonymisation processes for non-production environments.
• Strengthen database governance, backup and recovery, and GDPR-compliant data protection.
• Troubleshoot complex database issues, document operational standards and support platform modernisation.
• Coach colleagues and transfer knowledge to enable independent platform operations.

What you bring

• A degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 7 years of hands-on SQL Server database administration or database engineering experience.
• Practical production experience designing, implementing and supporting Azure SQL Database and Azure Cosmos DB.
• Strong knowledge of NoSQL data modelling, partitioning, indexing and performance optimisation.
• Hands-on automation experience with PowerShell, Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of Azure security, identity and access management, networking, monitoring, backup and recovery.
• Experience with database performance troubleshooting and secure data masking, anonymisation or equivalent data protection practices.
