Our client Econocom Belgium seeks a Senior Network Engineer to design, operate and secure a large-scale network across Belgium and Europe. You will work in IT and OT environments, ensuring 24/7 reliability and collaboration with security and operations teams.

You will deploy, upgrade, and troubleshoot enterprise networks, contribute to network automation, and support data center connectivity, cloud networking, and WAN modernization efforts.

Qualifications

• Experience managing complex enterprise networks in 24/7 environments.
• Fluent English with proficiency in French or Dutch.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and travel occasionally within Belgium.

Senior Network Engineer

Brussels (Anderlecht & European District)

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join a team responsible for the design, operation, security, and continuous improvement of a large-scale network infrastructure supporting business and industrial operations across Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the UK.

Working in both IT and OT environments, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of critical network services running 24/7.

Your Role

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be involved in both operational activities and infrastructure projects. You will work closely with internal teams to maintain and evolve a complex network environment while supporting business‑critical services across Europe.

Your responsibilities include:

• Managing and operating enterprise network infrastructures in a 24/7 environment
• Performing network deployments, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Supporting connectivity across multiple European locations
• Participating in strategic infrastructure projects, including:
• Data center connectivity and expansion
• Cloud networking and security initiatives
• WAN modernization projects
• Network enhancements driven by business and application requirements
• Ensuring changes are prepared, documented, and executed following strict operational and security standards
• Collaborating with infrastructure, security, application, and operations teams
• Contributing to network automation and operational improvements

Your Profile

• Strong experience as a Network Engineer within complex enterprise environments
• Fluent in English and proficient in either French or Dutch
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team
• Comfortable working in critical environments where reliability and security are key
• Willing to participate in an on-call rotation (maximum 1 week out of 4)
• Driving license and willingness to travel occasionally within Belgium

• Advanced knowledge of Routing & Switching protocols:
• OSPF
• IS-IS
• MP-BGP
• MSTP
• Cisco Wireless
• Cloud technologies (Azure or similar)
• Network automation using Python and/or Ansible
• Cisco SD-WAN and/or Cisco ACI
• Network monitoring and management solutions
• NAC, central Syslog and related backend tools
• Firewall technologies and network security best practices

Nice to have:

• TACACS+
• RADIUS

Technical Environment

You will work within a predominantly Cisco ecosystem and gain exposure to a wide range of technologies, including:

Practical Information

Location: Brussels (split between Avenue des Arts and Anderlecht)

Full-time on-site during the first 3 months

Afterwards: hybrid working model (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)
