Community Consulting seeks a senior network engineer to join the Network team in Brussels/Anderlecht, supporting IT and OT environments across Europe. Initial three months on-site, then a hybrid model with three days on-premises and two flexible days per week.

The role covers routing, switching, wireless and security, with opportunities to work on data centres, cloud connectivity and WAN modernization.

Qualifications

• Senior-level routing and switching knowledge (OSPF, IS-IS, MP-BGP, MST).
• Senior experience with Cisco Wireless and cloud technologies.
• Automation experience with Python and/or Ansible.
• Backend tools for monitoring, NAC and central syslog.
• Knowledge of Cisco ACI or Cisco SD-WAN.
• Firewall technologies understanding.
• Fluent in English; Dutch or French proficiency.
• Background in computer science; independent yet collaborative work style.
• Availability for standby rotations and travel to Belgian sites.

The Network team is responsible for the setup, security, maintenance and operation of network infrastructure supporting a broad range of services across industrial and office environments in Belgium, France, the UK, Germany and Switzerland. The team operates across both IT and OT environments and contributes to strategic projects including new data centre connectivity, secure cloud connectivity, WAN modernization and network evolutions required by application teams. The environment is predominantly Cisco-based and covers the complete network stack from LAN and WAN to data centre and cloud.

The mission is split between Brussels and Anderlecht and is expected to start as soon as possible for an initial duration of one year, renewable. The first three months are full-time on-site. Afterwards, hybrid working is possible with three days per week on-premises and two flexible days, subject to operational requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support network services underpinning company activities operating 24/7.
• Deploy and maintain IT network systems.
• Operate across both IT and OT environments.
• Prepare and execute network changes with a high level of diligence.
• Support colleagues in Belgium and other European locations.
• Work across routing, switching, wireless, security and related networking technologies.
• Collaborate closely with other ICT teams.
• Contribute to network projects covering data centres, cloud connectivity, WAN modernization and application-driven network evolutions.
• Participate in a standby rotation of up to one week in four.

Must have

• Senior-level knowledge of routing and switching protocols, including OSPF, IS-IS, MP-BGP and MST.
• Senior-level experience with Cisco Wireless.
• Senior-level experience with cloud technologies.
• Senior-level experience using Python and/or Ansible for automation.
• Senior-level knowledge of backend tools for monitoring, NAC and central syslog.
• Senior-level knowledge of Cisco ACI or Cisco SD-WAN.
• Understanding of firewall technologies.
• Proficiency in Dutch or French and fluency in English.
• Background in computer science.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong collaboration skills with ICT teams and colleagues.
• Availability to participate in a standby rotation of up to one week in four.
• Own car and ability to travel to Belgian company locations when required.
• Ability to comply with the required work locations in Brussels and Anderlecht.
• Availability to work full-time on-site during the first three months of the mission

Should have

• Experience working in both IT and OT environments.
• Experience supporting business-critical or 24/7 environments.
• Strong operational discipline when preparing and executing network changes.
• Broad networking expertise across routing, switching, wireless, security and network software.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of TACACS and RADIUS servers.
• Experience with Cisco ASR, ISR, Catalyst and Nexus devices.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with Check Point and Palo Alto firewalls.
• Experience with Zabbix, Elastic and Cisco ISE.
