Job summary

XSYS is a global provider of integrated solutions for the flexographic, letterpress and pre-press printing markets. The Mechanical Engineer will develop advanced new machines, assembling prototypes, testing and improving them for production, in collaboration with R&D and project leaders.

Requirements include a master in electro mechanics or equivalent, 10+ years of experience, and strong mechanical fundamentals; English fluency is essential, Dutch is a plus.

Qualifications

• Formal training in electro mechanics; Master or equivalent through experience.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
• Solid understanding of mechanical principles.
• Fluent in English; Dutch knowledge is a plus.
• You are self-starter with structured work approach; hands-on with tech passion.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical development of advanced new graphic-machinery in collaboration with project leaders, PM and R&D; designs in SolidWorks by you or a CAD designer.
• Machines have mechanical, servo, pneumatic and micro-piezo movements; some components ultrafine precision.
• Assemblie prototype machines to uncover issues and test/improve until objectives met.
• Prepare prototypes for production via defined gate process.
• Consult with production and service to find field solutions.
• Report to the Team Leader Mechanics and steer CAD designers.
• Maintain good work-life balance and adapt to a challenging environment.

Mechanical Engineer

Mission of the role & responsibilities

• Mechanical development of advanced new machines for the graphic industry. This in consultation with the project leaders, product manager and the R&D team. The designs are made in Solid Works by yourself or a CAD designer.
• These machines consist of mechanical, servo-controlled, pneumatic and micro piezo-controlled movements. Some of these movements are accurate to (sub) micrometer scale.
• This machine usually also contains optical components such as lenses, mirrors, high and low power lasers and fibers.
• Assembling these prototype machines yourself in order to discover initial assembly problems.
• Further testing and improving these machines until all objectives have been achieved.
• Making these prototypes ready for production via a defined gate process.
• Consult with production, service to find solutions for problems in the field.
• You report to the Team Leader Mechanics.
• Steering the work of CAD designers.

Required qualifications

• You received technical training in electro mechanics. Minimum master, or equivalent through experience.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
• Fundamental understanding of mechanical principles.
• Software programming is an advantage, eg Codesys.
• You are a self-starter and have a structured work approach.
• You are hands-on with a very great passion for technology.
• You can think outside the box to find solutions to difficult technical problems.
• You are fluent in communication and can collaborate with the different disciplines of R&D such as the CAD designers, Project leaders, Electronics, Optics and software team.
• You have a good knowledge of English, knowledge of Dutch is nice to have.
• You are stress resistant.
