Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Java engineer to design, develop and operate a near-real-time ETL engine processing data from renewable energy assets. You will architect integration with S3-compatible storage and streaming infrastructure, and balance real-time and batch processing trade-offs.

You will lead reliability through code reviews, testing and incident response, decompose pipeline problems into milestones, and maintain architecture decisions, runbooks and API documentation while

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years writing and operating high-performance Java in production.
• Deep understanding of Java concurrency, parallelism and performance optimisation
• Hands-on experience with data processing pipelines on S3-compatible object storage
• Comfortable with Linux system administration
• Experience delivering and operating production systems end-to-end, including code review, testing, monitoring and incident response
• Ability to evaluate technologies and guide sound architectural choices
• Master's in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent by experience
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Ability to work autonomously
• Ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-engineers
• Bonus: experience with Kafka, Flink or Pulsar, time-series databases, or the renewable energy sector
