Job summary

Pauwels Consulting seeks an experienced IT Project Leader to drive large-scale application development in the life insurance domain from Brussels. You will oversee end-to-end delivery of underwriting and claims systems, ensuring alignment between technical teams and business stakeholders.

The role requires 10+ years in IT project management within insurance, strong governance, and a proactive leadership approach. Hybrid work with 2 days onsite in Brussels and 3 days remote is offered.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT project management experience in software development for the insurance sector.
• Proven track record managing large-scale projects > 1000 mandays.
• 8+ years applying Prince2 and Waterfall methodologies to complex delivery cycles.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical and communications skills with a proactive leadership style.
• Fluent in Dutch or French with basic knowledge of the other, and good English.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain project governance with stakeholders and steering committees.
• Challenge and manage business requirements for value, cost, and timing.
• Coordinate architecture activities and define milestones for deliverables.
• Develop and track roadmaps, budgets, and work packages.
• Monitor progress and report scope, quality, and financial performance to senior management.
• Identify and mitigate risks with structured action plans and issue logs.
• Foster collaboration between multidisciplinary teams to maintain high engagement and skills.
