Job summary

Sopra Steria Belgium seeks a Data Engineer to join our Data & AI team, building end-to-end data platforms from ingestion to serving layers. You will collaborate with BI consultants and AI engineers to enable data-driven decisions across client projects.

You will design scalable pipelines using Databricks, Azure, SQL and Snowflake, translate business requirements into technical specs, and contribute to governance, security and maintainability of data systems.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years as a Data Engineer or in data-focused software engineering.
• Proficient in Python and translating business needs into technical specs.
• Experience with data pipelines, cloud platforms and governance concepts.
• Knowledge of Databricks, dbt, Airflow and modern data stack components.
• Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP and handling streaming/incremental workloads.
• Understanding of DataOps, CI/CD and IaC in data environments.
• Strong communication skills bridging tech and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Build high-quality data solutions that create value for clients.
• Gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Design, implement and orchestrate scalable data pipelines for large datasets.
• Contribute to sales proposals and business development initiatives.
• Engage in knowledge-sharing and mentor junior colleagues.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for client advisory.
