Job summary

Qover in Brussels is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to strengthen our data capabilities. You will lead the development of data reports from prototype to production, ensuring alignment with engineering best practices and data governance.

You will own dbt pipelines, data models for insurance data, and collaborate across teams to keep data timely and secure, with a strong emphasis on code quality, testing, and scalable architecture.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in SQL and data modelling.
• Master's degree in STEM is preferred but not a hard requirement.
• Leverage AI agents to speed-up code development, testing and delivery.
• Experience in dbt is highly desirable.
• Fluent in python.
• You are familiar with the modern data stack.
• Experience with git, bash, CI/CD and docker.
• You have delivered software products with unit and integration tests.
• Experience with cloud services, and more specifically with serverless data warehouses.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills and fluent in English.
• Proficiency in Dutch is a plus.
• You are pragmatic and able to speed up delivery over perfect elegance.
• Willing to work in a fast-paced environment with time pressure.
• Autonomous, hands-on with strong team spirit.
• Self-driven with minimal supervision and openness to ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable data financial reports for insurance programs.
• Build and improve dbt data pipelines supporting day-to-day operations.
• Design robust data models for insurance data with minimal future changes.
• Ensure timely data delivery to partners and perform data QA checks.
• Minimize table proliferation in BigQuery and maintain clean data lineage.
• Strengthen data governance through testing, documentation and controlled access.
• Collaborate to push data architecture to the next level and mentor the team.
