TERUMO BCT, INC in Brussels is seeking a Senior Compliance Specialist EMEA to lead and refine global and regional compliance programs across the EMEA region, with a focus on HCP/HCO engagements, funding, and transparency.

You will partner with Medical Affairs, Clinical, Commercial, Finance, Internal Audit, and Legal teams to drive risk-based guidance, training, and governance, ensuring adherence to AdvaMed and MedTech Europe codes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 5–7 years of experience in EMEA compliance, legal, or related function within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industries.
  • Strong familiarity with global healthcare compliance frameworks and transparency requirements.

Position Summary

Working under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer (or designee), the Senior Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting and advancing the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of global and regional compliance programs focused on the EMEA region. This role focuses on interactions with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), Healthcare Organizations (HCOs), Government Officials (GOs), and external funding activities, ensuring alignment with applicable company policies, procedures, and industry codes of ethics (e.g., AdvaMed Code, MedTech Europe Code). The Senior Compliance Specialist serves as a trusted advisor to the business, providing practical, risk-based guidance on commercial and medical activities while fostering a culture of integrity and ethical conduct. The role also leads compliance training efforts across EMEA, develops tailored engagement strategies, and collaborates cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical, Commercial, Finance, Internal Audit, and Legal/Compliance teams to support key initiatives and projects.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Program & Advisory

  • Provide compliance guidance to business partners on HCP/HCO/GO engagements, external funding, and related activities
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of compliance processes and internal controls
  • Identify compliance risks and develop practical, business-oriented mitigation strategies
  • Support data privacy initiatives impacting the EMEA region;

Policy & Governance

  • Support the review, development, and implementation of global and EMEA compliance policies and procedures
  • Develop EMEA guidance documents and job aids to facilitate consistent application of requirements
  • Support governance forums, including Global and EMEA Compliance Committees

Transparency & Reporting

  • Collaborate with Finance and local stakeholders to collect, validate, and report transfer of value data
  • Ensure timely submission of transparency reports in accordance with applicable laws, including:
    • U.S. Sunshine Act
    • French Sunshine Act
    • Italian transparency requirements
    • Other applicable EMEA regulations
  • Oversee publication of required disclosures in relevant platforms

Training & Engagement

  • Design and execute an annual EMEA compliance training plan aligned with global priorities
  • Deliver targeted training programs based on risk exposure and role-specific needs
  • Develop engaging, audience-tailored content (digital, live, and hybrid formats)
  • Measure training effectiveness and report on participation, comprehension, and impact
  • Identify and implement innovative tools and technologies to enhance learning

Data, Monitoring & Auditing

  • Collect, analyze, and report compliance data to support audits and monitoring activities
  • Generate management reports for senior leadership and governance bodies
  • Track progress against the annual compliance plan and key performance metrics

Systems & Tools

  • Support implementation and maintenance of compliance-related systems, including:
    • Contracting and approval systems
    • Fair market value tools
    • Third-party due diligence platforms
    • Training and reporting systems

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Medical Affairs, Clinical, Commercial, Finance, and Legal teams to support compliance initiatives
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships across regions and functions

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Experience

  • 5–7 years of experience in EMEA compliance, legal, or related function within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industries.
  • Strong familiarity with global healthcare compliance frameworks and transparency requirements.
  • Experience in managing compliance processes in Africa is preferred.

Certifications

  • Compliance certification (e.g., CHC, CHPC) preferred
