Job summary

Ria Money Transfer in Brussels is seeking a Compliance Officer Belgium-Luxembourg to define and implement the company’s compliance policy across money transfer and currency exchange operations, ensuring alignment with FSMA and BNB.

You will lead the local compliance team, monitor AML/CTF controls, manage regulatory inquiries, develop training programs, and collaborate with regulators and the European HQ in Madrid to embed robust compliance into daily operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or master’s degree in law, finance, or a related field obtained in Belgium.
• 5–10 years of experience in a compliance role within the Belgian financial services or banking sector.
• In-depth knowledge of Belgian financial regulation (FSMA, NBB, AML/CTF).
• Fluency in English and French; Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement comprehensive compliance policies for money transfer and currency exchange operations, ensuring alignment with FSMA and BNB regulations.
• Lead the local Compliance team (7 employees) including recruitment and performance reviews.
• Oversee AML/CTF monitoring and KYC processes for agents and sites.
• Liaise with regulators (FSMA, BNB) and manage regulatory inspections and inquiries.
• Develop and deliver compliance training programs and update manuals and policies.
• Prepare regular compliance reports for senior management and cross-border coordination with the European HQ in Madrid.
