Sopra Steria Group in Belgium is seeking a Senior BI Engineer – Power BI to design and deliver end-to-end BI solutions. You will combine data engineering, ETL/ELT, data modelling and cloud data platform concepts with strong hands-on Power BI expertise.

You will lead BI projects across requirements, modelling, reports and dashboards while coaching colleagues on best practices and collaborating with data engineers, architects and business stakeholders to create scalable, governed insights.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of BI experience, incl. 3+ years Power BI development.
• Strong Power BI expertise: semantic modelling, DAX, visuals, deployment.
• End-to-end BI delivery from ingestion to reporting.
• Experience with SQL, data modelling and ETL/ELT concepts.
• Familiar with Azure, Fabric, Databricks; collaboration with engineers.
• English and Dutch and/or French proficiency.

Join our Data & AI team.

You will become part of a multidisciplinary team where data engineering, architecture, AI, analytics, governance and visualisation come together. Together, we help clients get more value out of their data: from setting up the right data foundations to building dashboards, analytics solutions and AI use cases that support better decisions.

As a Senior BI Engineer – Power BI, you will design and deliver end-to-end BI solutions, combining data engineering, ETL/ELT, data modelling and cloud data platform concepts with strong hands-on Power BI expertise. Power BI is the core visualisation and semantic modelling layer in this role.

You take a leading role in the delivery of end-to-end BI projects. You work across the full BI lifecycle: from understanding business needs and defining data requirements, to shaping ETL/ELT flows, designing robust data models and delivering performant Power BI reports, dashboards and semantic models. You take ownership of the solutions you design, ensuring performance, governance, scalability and long-term maintainability.

This is not a pure dashboarding role, but strong hands‑on Power BI experience is essential. Beyond building dashboards, you actively coach and support colleagues in applying best practices in data modelling, DAX, visualisation and deployment. You act as a point of reference within the team and contribute to the development of our internal methodology, reusable assets and standards.

You proactively collaborate with data engineers, architects and business stakeholders to create scalable, user-friendly and impactful BI solutions.

Qualifications

We’re looking for a Senior BI Engineer with strong Power BI expertise who combines data engineering foundations, BI development skills and a consulting mindset. You are comfortable working from data requirements and transformations through to semantic modelling, Power BI development and stakeholder‑facing delivery.

You’ll have knowledge and experience of the following:

• You have 5+ years of BI experience, including at least 3 years of hands‑on Power BI development experience.
• You have strong expertise in Power BI, including semantic modelling, DAX, Power Query, visualisation, deployment and performance optimisation.
• You can deliver end‑to‑end BI solutions, from data ingestion and transformation to data modelling, reporting and dashboarding.
• You have experience with SQL, data modelling and ETL/ELT concepts.
• You understand modern cloud data platform concepts and can collaborate effectively with Data Engineers and Architects.
• You work confidently with Power BI Service, including workspace management, dataset governance, deployment, sharing and Row‑Level Security.
• You have experience with external Power BI tools such as Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
• Experience with Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Power Automate or Power Apps is a plus.
• You collaborate confidently with business stakeholders and translate business needs into clear KPIs, reporting logic and technical data requirements.
• You are proficient in English and Dutch and/or French.
