Job summary

efficy Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to own statutory accounting and month-end closing for entities across Belgium, France, Denmark, Spain, Sweden, and the Netherlands. You will be the technical go-to for colleagues and external offices, reporting to the Head of Finance in a multi-country finance team.

The role supports Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Hong Kong, with hybrid work from Brussels and strong emphasis on Belgian GAAP and IFRS

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as a corporate accountant in international environments.
• Experience with local GAAP in Belgium and foreign VAT filings.
• Strong analytical and precise accounting skills.

Responsibilities

• Run daily accounting and month-end closing for entities under local GAAP.
• Prepare financial statements and support annual accounts and audits.
• Prepare Belgian and foreign VAT returns and other tax filings.
• Coordinate with external accounting offices and ensure deadlines are met.
• Review colleagues' entries and support IFRS consolidation when needed.
• Contribute to group accounting manuals and reporting guidelines.
• Grow into a larger part of the accounting team coordination.

Job Overview

We're looking for a Senior Accountant to become the senior reference point of our accounting team. You'll own the statutory accounting and month-end closing for your assigned legal entities across Belgium, France, Denmark, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands, and act as the technical go-to for colleagues and external accounting offices.

You'll report directly to the Head of Finance, within an international Finance & Administration (F&A) team supporting operations in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Hong Kong.

Key Responsibilities

• Statutory accounting: run the daily accounting and month-end closing for your assigned legal entities under local GAAP
• Financial statements: prepare and maintain financial statements, mainly under Belgian GAAP, and support annual accounts and audits
• VAT and tax: prepare Belgian and foreign VAT returns (monthly and quarterly) and other tax filings, with external accountants when needed
• External accounting offices: be the day-to-day contact, check that local fiscal requirements are handled and that statutory and fiscal deadlines are met
• Technical reference: review colleagues’ entries and help them with accounting questions (you're always happy to jump in when someone is stuck)
• Group standards: contribute to the group accounting manual and reporting guidelines, and draft and update accounting procedures
• Team coordination: take on a growing share of the accounting team’s coordination over time

Who You Are

• Experience: 5+ years as a corporate accountant, ideally in an international environment or at a Big 4 firm
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, business management or finance
• Skills: good knowledge of Belgian GAAP, with strong analytical skills and precision. Experience with accounting tools, ideally Odoo, is a plus
• Collaboration: clear communicator who manages stakeholders at all levels and has the credibility to guide colleagues
• Ownership: proactive and organised, able to work independently in a remote team
• Growth: interest in IFRS and consolidation is a plusLanguage proficiency: good command of French or Dutch
• Language proficiency: full professional fluency in English
• Hybrid policy: you're willing to work from the Brussels office 3+ days/week
