Bird & Bird (Belgium) is seeking a Mid-Level Associate in Brussels to join their EU Chemicals Regulatory Team. This role offers the chance to handle high-profile EU regulatory and litigation matters. Ideal candidates will have 2-3 years of post-qualification experience and a solid background in EU law.

Key responsibilities include providing EU chemicals regulatory advice, monitoring legislative developments, and supporting clients with cross-border regulatory issues. The position requires excellent analytical skills and fluency in English, with knowledge of additional EU languages being advantageous.

Qualifications

• Holds 2-3 years of post-qualification experience in EU regulatory law or life sciences/chemicals-related matters.
• Solid understanding of EU institutions, ideally with a traineeship at the European Commission or similar organization.

Responsibilities

• EU chemicals regulatory advice (including REACH, CLP, biocides, and related frameworks)
• Regulatory strategy and compliance before EU institutions and national authorities
• Advocacy and litigation before national courts and the EU Courts
• Monitoring and analysing EU legislative and policy developments
• Advising on market access, enforcement, and product compliance issues
• Supporting clients across the EU on complex, cross‑border regulatory matters

You will be involved in both advisory and contentious work, assisting clients on strategic regulatory projects with significant EU‑wide impact.

Qualifications

• Holds 2–3 years of post‑qualification experience, ideally in EU regulatory law or life sciences/chemicals‑related matters
• Is admitted to an EU Bar
• Has a strong background in EU law (LL.M. preferred)
• Has a solid understanding of EU institutions, ideally supported by a traineeship at the European Commission or a similar organisation
