ToxMinds in Brussels is seeking an experienced Regulatory Toxicologist to strengthen our Chemicals Business Line. You will lead challenging toxicological assessments for industrial chemicals and UVCBs, develop regulatory strategies, and guide clients through evolving EU and international requirements.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Toxicology, Ecotoxicology, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, Chemistry or a related discipline
  • 4–6+ years in regulatory toxicology in industry, consultancy or regulatory setting
  • Strong knowledge of European chemical legislation (REACH, CLP, DWD, FCM)
  • Experience with NAMs, read-across, integrated testing strategies and animal-free approaches
  • Excellent analytical and scientific writing skills
  • Attention to detail, analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Experience managing projects and direct client communication
  • Collaborative yet independent work style
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Responsabilités

  • Lead complex toxicological assessments for industrial chemicals, mixtures and UVCBs
  • Design scientifically robust testing and assessment strategies
  • Review, interpret and integrate toxicological data from lab studies and literature
  • Apply NAMs and read-across into risk assessment
  • Monitor and scientifically oversee studies performed by external CROs
  • Develop regulatory strategies supporting chemical frameworks (REACH, CLP, DWD, FCM)
  • Prepare high-quality scientific reports and regulatory dossiers
  • Act as the primary scientific contact for clients and manage projects from proposal through delivery
  • Collaborate closely with internal multidisciplinary experts
  • Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to scientific development
  • Support business development with technical input during client discussions

To support our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Regulatory Toxicologist to strengthen our Chemicals Business Line.

Your role

As a senior member of our Chemicals team, you will provide expert scientific and regulatory advice to clients across a wide range of industrial chemicals and complex substances. You will lead challenging toxicological assessments, develop regulatory strategies, and guide clients through evolving European and international regulatory requirements.

This is a role for a scientist who enjoys combining technical excellence with client interaction and strategic problem solving. You will have significant autonomy, work alongside recognised experts, and contribute to projects that influence regulatory decision‑making.

Reporting to the Sector Lead Chemicals, you will play an important role in strengthening both our scientific capabilities and our market position.

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead complex toxicological assessments for industrial chemicals, mixtures and UVCBs.
  • Design scientifically robust testing and assessment strategies.
  • Review, interpret and integrate toxicological data from laboratory studies and scientific literature.
  • Apply new assessment approaches, including read‑across and integrated testing strategies into risk assessment.
  • Monitor and scientifically oversee studies performed by external CROs.
  • Develop regulatory strategies supporting chemical regulatory frameworks including REACH, CLP, DWD, Food Contact Materials.
  • Prepare high‑quality scientific reports and regulatory dossiers.
  • Act as the primary scientific contact for clients and manage projects from proposal through delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with internal multidisciplinary experts.
  • Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to the continuous development of our scientific expertise.
  • Support business development by providing technical input during client discussions and proposal preparation.
What we’re looking for

You have:

  • A Master’s or PhD in Toxicology, Ecotoxicology, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, Chemistry or a related discipline
  • At least 4-6 years of experience in regulatory toxicology within industry, consultancy or a regulatory environment
  • Strong expertise in European chemicals legislation, including REACH, CLP, Drinking Water Directive and Food Contact Materials
  • Experience with new toxicological assessment methods (NAMs), read‑across, integrated testing strategies and animal‑free approaches
  • Excellent analytical and scientific writing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience managing projects and communicating directly with clients
  • A collaborative mindset combined with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and spoken English
