Job summary

IMEC, based in Leuven, Belgium, seeks an R&D Team Leader for Compute Integration. You will lead a dedicated team within the Pathfinding Integration Department, guiding projects and ensuring timely delivery.

The role combines technical leadership with HR responsibilities and development of team members. You will coordinate across large teams, align goals with project needs, and report status to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (or PhD preferred) in applied or material science or engineering.
• 5–10 years of relevant industrial experience in compute process integration.
• Strong team leadership and people management capabilities.
• Fluency in English is necessary for international collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead one of the Compute Process Integration teams within the Pathfinding Integration Department.
• Provide technical guidance on key projects and allocate tasks based on scope and competencies.
• Oversee all team activities, monitor progress and adjust as needed to meet milestones.
• Implement and monitor HR processes in the team, including performance management and coaching.

• You will beleadingone oftheComputeProcess Integrationteams, in thePathfindingIntegration Department.The teamis responsible forsetting up andmaintainingintegration flow in the context of the R&D program on advanced compute technology and of various bilateral projects.
• Youprovidetechnical guidanceto the team on key projects.
• Youassignteam members totasksrequested by project and program managers after evaluating scope and complexity and by considering available competencies.
• Youoverseeall the activities carried out by the team,monitorprogressandadjustwhere needed.

• Youimplement andmonitorthe HR processesin the team.Thisincludes:
  • translatingthe corporate/project/program goals into individual performance managementtargets.
  • coachingthe members of the group towards achieving their goals.
  • ensuringa full and fair balance of each individual employee as a basis for all HR processes by activelysolicitinginput from stakeholders to projects team members are involved in.

• You take care of the individual development of team membersbygrowingtheircompetencesaligned to theteamneeds and to ensure continuity of projects.
• You create a true team atmosphere and create opportunities for information sharing.
• You interact closely with yourpeers,these are your internal customers (project and program managers), managers and team leaders of unit process teams as well as the team leaders in the integration department.
• Youcommunicate status and issuesto your peers, customers, as well as the leadership team at imec.

Who you are

• You have obtainedaMaster’sdegree(orPhD,preferred) in applied or material science or engineering,best ifcombined with5 to 10 yearsrelevantindustrialexperienceincomputeprocess integration.
• Youenjoy leading a teamwith solid knowledge, cleargoalsand up to date work planning.
• You area communicative people manager, able to motivate your team to reach challenging milestones.
• Priorexperience incoordinatingeffort across large teams is a definite plus.
• You havestrong organizational skillsand show the flexibility to change between different projects according to changing priorities.
• You liketakinginitiative,you arepersuasive and assertive, whilekeeping a constructive attitude.
• Given the international character of imec, afluent knowledge of Englishis necessary.
