Alstom seeks a Project Verification & Validation Designer to contribute to major developments by proving design fit for use through Verification, Integration and Test activities. You will interface with design teams and coordinate with Test & Commissioning to ensure alignment between in-house and on-site testing results.

Responsibilities include defining V&V strategy, developing test plans, performing verification activities, and presenting progress to the V&V Manager.

Qualifications

  • Mandatory: Graduated; English language full proficiency.
  • Mandatory: Good analytical skill.
  • Mandatory: Understanding and experience in software coding.
  • Mandatory: Knowledge of at least one Alstom platform.
  • Desirable: Master’s degree in engineering or scientific topics.
  • At least 2 years in relevant positions in complex and normative environments.

Responsabilités

  • Contribute to verification, integration and test activities for projects.
  • Define verification strategy and test plans for deliverables.
  • Define test plans and test descriptions for in-house activities; liaise with PrCOM for exported tests.
  • Perform and report allocated verification, integration and test activities.
  • Represent Alstom to customers or partners to provide test progress updates and risks.
  • Provide data to maintain KPIs and support continuous improvement.
  • Manage configuration and change management related to V&V activities.

Job Title (Job Code): Project Verification & Validation Designer (VVD) (EN-VA-01)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
  • Take part to major developments by proving that the design is fit for its intended use, through implementation and execution of Verification, Integration and Test activities, fitting the targets in terms of Quality, Cost and Delivery
  • Detail and perform all the in-house activities in the scope of the V&V team, and interface experts delegated in other departments. Cooperate tightly with Test & Commissioning to ensure seamless integration and alignment between in-house and on-site testing activities and results. Interface with design teams to share and detail the results of V&V activities
  • Agree with Verification & Validation Manager on strategy, scheduling and budget, and share progress, results and issues during execution

Main Responsabilities
Key accountabilities:
  • Contribute to the definition of the Project Verification and Validation strategy in the V&V Plan, and act proactively for its implementation
  • Define verification methodology for selected deliverables, when requested from V&V strategy
  • Define test plans and test descriptions for in-house activities. Liaise with PrCOM for exported tests
  • Perform and report on allocated verification, integration and test activities
  • When Safety is involved, share and justify the results with Safety Assurance Manager to feed safety demonstration
  • Interface with experts in other department to align on selected V&V activity methodology
  • Represent Alstom in front of customers or partners, for instance to provide overview of test progress, issues, risks and opportunities
  • Specify, procure, develop, setup and configure assets such as testbenches and instrumentation
  • Provide data to maintain applicable KPIs
  • Provide valuable feedback for REX sessions and continuous improvement
  • Manage configuration and change management cycle related with V&V activities (simulation configuration, anomaly tracking, etc.)
  • Follow-up with T&C for tests exported to site execution
Performance measurements
  • DQI (Delivery Quality Indicator)
  • CPI (Coverage Progress Indicator)
  • Cooperation and support to KPI Root Cause Analysis
Main Required Competences
Educational Requirements
Mandatory:
  • Graduated
  • Foreign language: English, full proficient use
Desirable:
  • Master’s degree in engineering or scientific topics
Experience
Mandatory:
  • Good analytical skill is required
  • Understanding and experience in Software coding
  • Knowledge of at least one Alstom platform
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of more than one Alstom platform
  • Design and data preparation processes understanding
  • Engineering and system background

At least 2 years in relevant positions (systems / sub-systems integration, embedded equipment, electrotechnical product development) in a highly complex and normative environment (railway signaling, aerospace, defense, nuclear) would be a major asset
