Job summary

Comate in Leuven develops high-tech hardware from scratch for medical devices, life science and industrial sectors. We are seeking a talented project manager industrial to lead development of new disruptive products with clients, within multidisciplinary teams of engineers and designers.

You will manage projects from idea to production, coordinate planning, resources, budgets, and be the main contact for customers, while ensuring conformity testing and CE marking, and propagate our values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or equivalent.
• Several years as project engineer or project manager in technical, interdisciplinary product development.
• Experience in design/engineering agencies or innovation-driven environments.
• Familiar with CE marking requirements.
• Strong analytical and people management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from idea to production, including prototyping and industrialization.
• Plan project teams, track budgets, and keep schedules up to date.
• Serve as the main customer contact to clarify needs and secure optimal solutions.
• Coordinate internal teams, partners, suppliers, and freelancers.
• Ensure conformity testing to meet internal and external standards.
• Promote company values and standards across projects.

We currently are looking for a talented and passionate project manager industrial like you, who can lead the development of new, disruptive products together with our clients. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers on the development of innovative machinery within our industrial unit. These are highly dynamic, custom-engineered systems in which automation, robotics and complex machine building typically converge. Precision mechanics, fast and accurate motion control of robots, axes and gantries, robust process and safety control, and reliable software/PLC integration are crucial. As a project manager, you will be in charge of various projects that relate to the development of innovative automated machines and production equipment within the industrial sector.

What does this mean?

You will lead the project from the initial idea to the final production version, and everything in between: brainstorming, concept design, prototyping, testing and industrialization, ...

You are responsible for the entire project event: general planning, planning the project team, financial follow-up, setting up and keeping project plans up-to-date, etc ...

You are the point of contact for the customer. You understand his needs and make every effort to arrive at the optimal innovative product for him.

You manage all project resources: your Comate colleagues but also partners, suppliers and freelancers.

You are also responsible for the conformity testing of our new concepts, prototypes and pilot production so that they are in accordance with internal and external standards.

As a project manager you also have an important role in propagating our values and standards.

You are passionate about all technical aspects of hardware development.

You have a higher degree in Engineering ( Mechanics, Mechatronics or the like ).

You obtained a few years of experience as a project engineer of project manager in the technical, interdisciplinary development of products preferably in a design/engineering agency or similar innovation driven environment.

You have a technical background in mechanical or mechatronics engineering ( fe building/designing machinery , PLC programming, vision software, motion control, … ).

You are familiar with CE marking requirements.

You combine strong analytical skills with strong project & people management skills.

You have excellent communication skills in English, spoken and written. Other languages are a plus.

You are flexible, you have no problems with adapting to new plans. Product development is fun, but also unpredictable.

You can handle pressure because honestly, we work hard.
