Job summary

Comate seeks a talented Project Manager for industrial hardware development in Leuven. You will lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering and design to deliver innovative automated machines and production equipment, from concept to production.

You will manage planning, resources and client relations, ensuring compliance with CE and internal standards while driving project success and professional growth within an award-winning, fast-growing company.

Qualifications

• Higher degree in Engineering (Mechanics, Mechatronics) required.
• Several years of experience as project engineer or project manager in technical, interdisciplinary development.
• Background in mechanical or mechatronics engineering (building/designing machinery, PLC, motion control).
• Familiar with CE marking requirements.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from idea to final production version, including design, prototyping, testing and industrialization.
• Plan and manage project timelines, team, and finances; keep plans updated.
• Be the main customer contact to understand needs and deliver the optimal product.
• Coordinate resources across Comate colleagues, partners, suppliers and freelancers.
• Oversee conformity testing to meet internal and external standards.
• Promote company values and standards throughout the project.

We currently are looking for a talented and passionate project manager industrial like you, who can lead the development of new, disruptive products together with our clients. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers on the development of innovative machinery within our industrial unit. These are highly dynamic, custom-engineered systems in which automation, robotics and complex machine building typically converge. Precision mechanics, fast and accurate motion control of robots, axes and gantries, robust process and safety control, and reliable software/PLC integration are crucial. As a project manager, you will be in charge of various projects that relate to the development of innovative automated machines and production equipment within the industrial sector.

What does this mean?

You will lead the project from the initial idea to the final production version, and everything in between: brainstorming, concept design, prototyping, testing and industrialization, ...

You are responsible for the entire project event: general planning, planning the project team, financial follow-up, setting up and keeping project plans up-to-date, etc ...

You are the point of contact for the customer. You understand his needs and make every effort to arrive at the optimal innovative product for him.

You manage all project resources: your Comate colleagues but also partners, suppliers and freelancers.

You are also responsible for the conformity testing of our new concepts, prototypes and pilot production so that they are in accordance with internal and external standards.

As a project manager you also have an important role in propagating our values and standards.

You are passionate about all technical aspects of hardware development.

You have a higher degree in Engineering ( Mechanics, Mechatronics or the like ).

You obtained a few years of experience as a project engineer of project manager in the technical, interdisciplinary development of products preferably in a design/engineering agency or similar innovation driven environment.

You have a technical background in mechanical or mechatronics engineering ( fe building/designing machinery , PLC programming, vision software, motion control, … ).

You are familiar with CE marking requirements.

You combine strong analytical skills with strong project & people management skills.

You have excellent communication skills in English, spoken and written. Other languages are a plus.

You are flexible, you have no problems with adapting to new plans. Product development is fun, but also unpredictable.

You can handle pressure because honestly, we work hard.
