Job summary

Birlasoft in Hyderabad, India is seeking a Senior Macro Conversion Engineer to lead reverse engineering of Rocket macros and convert them into IBM PCOMM-based automation solutions while preserving business functionality and performance.

The role covers macro analysis, mainframe automation development, reliability engineering, and documentation. You will design robust automation, implement logging, error handling, and work closely with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.

Qualifications

• 12+ years experience with IBM 3270 and IBM 5250 terminal emulation.
• Deep understanding of host sessions, screen attributes and AID keys.
• Strong PCOMM automation experience including EHLLAPI and HACL.
• Proficiency in VBA, VBScript; familiarity with PowerShell; knowledge of COM automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis and conversion of Rocket macros to PCOMM-based automation.
• Develop mainframe automation: host navigation, screen recognition, file transfers.
• Implement reliability features: logging, error handling, retries, recovery workflows.
• Create design docs and runbooks; support operational documentation.

Serve as primary technical lead responsible for reverse engineering Rocket terminal emulator macros or VB (excel based macros) and converting them into IBM PCOMM-based automation solutions while preserving business functionality, performance, and output integrity.
