Atlas Copco Energy Conversion Solutions—Oil-Free Air division—seeks a project engineer to follow electrical design from concept through lab prototype to series production, collaborating across departments and international facilities.

You will specify motors and drives, develop control strategies, design electrical schematics and cabinets, and ensure compliance with IEC/UL standards while growing technical expertise in a supportive global team.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent by experience.
• Fluent English communication within a multinational environment.
• Knowledge of CAD tools (Autocad Electrical, E-plan) is a plus.
• Experience in machine controls and control programming is advantageous.
• Dutch language is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Select main electrical components (motor and variable speed drive).
• Coordinate design & release of electrical schematic, BOM & wiring.
• Define, program and implement control strategies and translate to software/hardware.
• Define functional specs for motors, drives, sensors and components.
• Follow up qualification of electrical components.
• Discuss electrical cabinet design with suppliers.
• Follow up electrical cabinet wiring and realization.
• Support production and field installations; troubleshoot issues.
• Apply IEC/UL/CSA/IEEE standards and disseminate knowledge.

Description du poste

You will be part of the engineering team for Energy Conversion solutions within the Oil-Free Air division. This recently formed team is on a mission to reduce the carbon footprint of Atlas Copco’s customers by launching a full new product range focused on steam processes.

As member of this dynamic team, you will follow projects completely from start to finish, seeing the product evolve from idea and lab prototype to series production. Together with different departments, you will shape the products, production flows, logistic chains, sales processes and aftermarket support. You will collaborate closely with the project leader and other project engineers, both within our local plant as well as spread over Atlas Copco’s international facilities (e.g. India and China).

Your tasks and responsibilities include the following topics:

• Selection of main electrical components (motor and variable speed drive)
• Coordinate the design & release of the electrical schematic, electrical BOM & wiring
• Define, program and implement control strategies and translate them into soft- and hardware
• Define the functional specification of the required electrical components: motors, drives, solenoid valves, sensors, contactors, transformers, filters, …
• Follow up qualification of electrical components
• Discuss electrical cabinet design with the supplier
• Follow up realization of electrical cabinet & wiring
• Follow up production and field installations: troubleshoot quality and performance issues and implement solutions
• Apply standards and regulations (IEC, UL, CSA, IEEE …)
• Secure and disseminate the acquired knowledge

To succeed, you will need

• Engineering degree or equal by experience
• A passion for electrical design, backed by strong general technical knowledge
• Knowledge of Autocad Electrical and E-plan is a plus
• Experience in machine controls and control programming is a plus (e.g. Siemens TIA or Simatic)
• Fluent communication skills in English with different levels within the organization
• Experience in a product development environment is a strong advantage
• Knowledge of Dutch is a plus
