Job summary

IMEC in Leuven, Belgium is seeking a Process Engineer in the Defectivity team. You will qualify processes and tools, monitor stability, and implement improvements to enhance quality and cycle time.

The role requires data-driven decision making, autonomy, and strong communication in a cross-functional setting. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will analyze data, create tool recipes, investigate root causes, and contribute to new characterization techniques aligned with the technology

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Science or Engineering or equal by experience.
  • Experience in a FAB environment is a strong asset.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze information before acting.
  • Autonomous, well organized, with attention to detail and high quality standards.
  • Fluent in English with good communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Qualify processes and tools, monitor stability and implement improvements for quality and cycle time.
  • Troubleshoot defectivity-related issues reported by First Line Support when needed.
  • Analyze data using sound statistical methods and present summaries to peers and management.
  • Fulfill requests for new applications and create tool recipes.
  • Investigate tool and recipe issues, focusing on root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment with researchers, hardware engineers, ops, and other experts.
  • Innovate new characterization techniques aligned with imec’s technology roadmap.
  • Work in two shifts (early/late) including one weekend out of four to support 24/7 fab.

Process Engineer Defectivity
What you will do

You will be a member of the Defect Inspection Engineer team (DIE) which is part of the Inspection and Metrology Characterization group (IMC). The IMC group is responsible for the metrology and defectivity process portfolio and tools and follows up processes under evaluation/validation for furture needs.

As process engineer in the DIE team, you will be responsible for tools and processes:

  • Process & tool qualification, monitor stability, implement improvements for improved quality and cycle time.
  • Troubleshooting defectivity related issues reported by the First Line Support which cannot be resolved by themselves.
  • Analyze data utilizing sound statistical methods and present summaries to peers and management.
  • Fulfill requests for new applications and create the tool recipes.
  • Investigate tool and recipe issues, focus on root cause analysis and development of long-term solutions.
  • Utilizing expert interpersonal skills, collaborate in a dynamic multidisciplinary and multicultural environment in close cooperation with researchers, hardware engineers, operations, industry assignees, device and process experts.
  • As opportunities arise, innovate new techniques of characterization that align with the Imec’s technology roadmap.
  • You will work in two shifts (early/late) including one weekend out of four (Sa/Su), to support the 24h by 7d fab.

Who you are
  • You obtained a Master in Science or Engineering or equal by experience and display strong engineering skills and mindset.
  • Experience in a FAB environment is a strong asset.
  • You are data driven and seek out information before making decisions and taking action.
  • You like to work autonomously, well organized, with good attention to detail and set high standards for quality.
  • You speak fluent English.
  • As you will work in cross functional teams, strong communication and reporting skills are required. You are a team player with strong drive to share your expertise and knowledge with colleagues. You strive to document and report.
