Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Principal Scientist, Scientific Workflows & Agentic Cheminformatics to join our In Silico Drug Discovery team. This senior role will be located in Spring House, PA; Cambridge, MA; or Beerse, Belgium, with travel up to 10% and no remote option.

You will lead design, prototyping, and validation of agent-enabled workflows, collaborating with data science and platform engineering to deliver reusable capabilities across discovery programs.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent substantial experience in cheminformatics, computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, or related discipline.
• Strong Python programming and automation workflow development experience.
• Experience with AI-assisted development and large language models.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Lead identification, design, prototyping, and validation of agent-enabled workflows for discovery questions across use cases.
• Define reusable approaches translating complex questions into executable workflows with explicit evidence and decisions.
• Collaborate with data science and platform engineering on AI architecture, security, and deployment.
• Provide scientific and technical leadership across a portfolio of prototypes and adoption efforts.
• Drive broader adoption by integrating agentic capabilities into discovery environments and cross-functional teams.
