Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Power Electronics Hardware R&D Engineer to lead development of next-generation hardware for grid modernization, electrification, renewables, and transformer applications. You will drive innovation in hardware, PCBA design, EMI/EMC compliance, and system integration.

Based in Belgium with hybrid work, you will lead cross-disciplinary teams, publish patents, and contribute to technology transfer.

Qualifications

M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
At least 5 years of experience in power electronics hardware design and validation.
Proven experience designing converters or grid-connected power equipment.
Expertise in EMI/EMC design, testing, and mitigation.

Responsibilities

Lead R&D activities focused on power electronics hardware for converter systems.
Design PCB layouts and engineering packages for PCBA including drive, sensing, protection.
Perform schematic capture, layout reviews, and design verification of complex PCBAs.
Develop hardware using wide bandgap semiconductors.
Lead EMI/EMC design activities including testing, grounding, shielding, and filters.
Collaborate with controls, software, and mechanical teams; drive patents and tech transfer.
