Job summary

Hitachi Energy Belgium N.V. is seeking a Power Electronics Hardware R&D Engineer to lead development of next-generation power electronic hardware for grid modernization and electrification.

You will drive innovation in converter hardware, PCBA design, EMI/EMC design and system integration. The role requires a strong background in electrical engineering, 5+ years in power electronics hardware, and hands-on experience with PCBAs, EMI testing, and high-voltage safety.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in power electronics hardware design and validation.
• Experience designing converters or grid-connected power conversion equipment.
• Proven PCBA design and development including schematic capture, layout review, DFM/DFT.
• Expertise in EMI/EMC design, testing, mitigation and compliance.
• Knowledge of high-voltage isolation, creepage/clearance, safety-critical hardware.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D activities focused on power electronics hardware for converter systems.
• Design PCB layouts and engineering packages for PCBA with gate-drive and sensing circuits.
• Perform schematic capture, component selection, and layout reviews for multilayer PCBAs.
• Develop hardware using wide bandgap semiconductors.
• Lead EMI/EMC design activities including emissions mitigation, grounding and filters.
• Coordinate with controls, software, transformer, insulation, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
