Itineris is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to own the technical direction of our AI & Insights Platforms. You will design architectures, APIs, and integration patterns, and build reusable, scalable platform components using Azure Functions, AKS, and container apps.

• Ability to independently explore, validate, and implement technical solutions.

What you will work on …

We are looking for a Principal Platform Engineer who will take technical ownership of these platforms and help shape their future. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys both designing systems and building them. You will work on strategic initiatives, helping define architecture, implement foundational capabilities, validate technical approaches, and support delivery teams as these platforms grow and mature. The underlying platforms emphasize reusable architectures, shared capabilities, standardized models, governance, and extensibility.

As our Platform Engineer, you…

Own the technical direction

• Define and evolve platform architectures.
• Design domain models, service boundaries, APIs, and integration patterns.
• Define event schemas and contracts for ingress and egress event flows.
• Design the anti‑corruption layer that isolates core domain models from upstream system representations.
• Drive architectural consistency across solutions.

Build critical platform capabilities

• Design and implement core services and platform components using Azure Functions and Azure Container Apps/AKS.
• Build the core insights layer that produces derived analytics and produces agentic outcomes.
• Own production readiness for event‑driven services: dead‑lettering, retry/backoff, idempotency, and replay
• Lead technical spikes, proofs of concept, and architectural validations.
• Contribute production‑ready code where it matters most.
• Support troubleshooting of complex technical problems.

Enable product growth

• Design solutions that support multiple customers and use cases.
• Help establish reusable building blocks that accelerate future development.
• Identify opportunities for platform reuse and simplification.
• Ensure new capabilities can be added without significant architectural redesign.

Support delivery and rollout

• Guide project teams during rollout.
• Help translate platform capabilities into customer‑facing solutions.

Raise the engineering bar

• Coach and mentor engineers.
• Promote engineering best practices.
• Help create a strong culture of ownership and technical excellence.

What we're looking for…

We’re looking for someone that can define event‑driven, microservices architectures on Azure and aid in implementing the first iteration. You think in reusable capabilities, rather than one‑off solutions and can challenge design assumptions through experimentation.

Required

• Several years of experience designing and building enterprise software.
• Strong software engineering background with hands‑on development experience.
• Hands‑on experience designing and building REST/HTTP APIs and service contracts
• Experience with Azure Functions and/or Azure Container Apps/AKS.
• Experience with event‑driven architectures using message brokers, topics/queues, dead‑lettering, idempotent consumers.
• Ability to independently explore, validate, and implement technical solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI, Generative AI, machine learning, or data platforms.
• Experience with Kubernetes, GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux), and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Bicep/Terraform).
• Familiarity with anti‑corruption‑layer / bounded‑context patterns for integrating with external or legacy systems.
• Experience integrating with Dynamics 365 F&O or comparable ERP systems.
