John Cockerill Energy seeks a Pipe Stress Engineer to support energy projects from early design to execution. You will collaborate with internal stake-holders to align customer needs with technical requirements and project objectives in an international setting.

The role combines strong analytical work with coordination across multiple teams in a design office environment, emphasizing accuracy, rigor and effective communication.

Qualifications

  • Piping stress analysis and engineering calculations form the core of the role.
  • Solid grounding in mechanics, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics is required.
  • Proficiency with standard office tools and ability to read technical docs.
  • Experience with piping calculation software is a strong asset.
  • Work in a design office environment demanding accuracy and rigor.

Responsabilités

  • Perform piping flexibility and stress calculations per codes and standards.
  • Carry out engineering calculations for boilers and industrial systems design and development.
  • Analyze loads, stresses and boundary conditions and propose technical solutions.
  • Support studies from basic to detailed engineering and review documentation.
  • Collaborate with piping, mechanical, process and project teams to ensure consistency.
  • Provide technical support during project execution, manufacturing and commissioning.

Your role

As a Pipe Stress Engineer , you will play a key role in supporting energy projects and business activities, from early engineering phases to execution support. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with customer needs, technical requirements and project objectives.
This position combines strong technical expertise, analytical work, and coordination with multiple teams, often in an international project environment.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Performing piping flexibility and stress calculations using Intergraph CAESAR II software in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Carrying out various engineering calculations related to the design and technical development of boilers and industrial systems, mainly in the fields of mechanics, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
  • Analyzing loads, stresses, and boundary conditions, and proposing technical solutions to ensure mechanical integrity and reliability.
  • Supporting engineering studies from basic design to detailed engineering, including review of technical documentation and calculation notes.
  • Collaborating with piping, mechanical, process and project teams to ensure consistency between calculations, design choices and project constraints.
  • Providing technical support during project execution, manufacturing, installation and commissioning phases when required.

You will join a multidisciplinary and collaborative team, working closely with engineers, designers, project managers and business stakeholders.

Your profile
Experience & technical skills
  • Higher education in Electromechanics, preferably with a specialization in Energy, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in piping stress analysis and engineering calculations, or strong motivation to develop expertise in these areas.
  • Knowledge of piping calculation software, particularly Intergraph CAESAR II, is a strong asset.
  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals related to mechanics, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
  • Proficiency in standard Office tools and ability to work with technical documentation and calculation reports.
  • Comfortable working in a design office environment, requiring accuracy, rigor and a systematic approach.
Personal & behavioral skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to work in a young, dynamic and international environment.
  • Fluent in French with a good command of English; willingness to further develop language skills if needed.
