The University of Antwerp invites applications for a fully funded, full-time doctoral scholarship holder in low-latency wireless embedded systems. The PhD project, conducted in the IDLab-UAntwerp group, targets ultra-low-latency, scalable cyber-physical systems across robotics, automation, drones and IoT.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, informatics, electrical engineering, telecommunications or a closely related field.
• Evidence of excellent study results.
• Strong programming skills in C and at least one high-level language (e.g. Python).
• Solid understanding of wireless network stacks and/or embedded programming on modern microcontrollers (e.g. ARM Cortex M).
• Knowledge of software-defined radios, wireless IoT protocols, DSP, and/or real-time software is a plus.
• Strong written and spoken English.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and defend a PhD thesis in wireless and embedded communication systems.
• Conduct high-quality fundamental research under supervision.
• Report progress to your supervisor and supervisory committees.
• Publish your research in leading international conferences and peer‑reviewed journals.
• Collaborate on existing research projects with other researchers.
• Assist in teaching lab sessions (circa 10% of your time).
