Job description

We ARE Renewables is looking for Technical Engineers to work on vessels (offshore installation vessels, dredging vessels) for one of our clients. As Technical Engineer you will be part of a division specialized in one of the following disciplines:

  • Offshore (think about specialized mission equipment like cranes, grippers, etc)
  • Dredging
  • Hull
  • Mechanical & Fluids
  • Electrical & Automation

In there you play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of the specialized vessels. The emphasis is on (preventive) maintenance preparation, mobilizations, system integration, the technical part. You will for example create work packages that will be executed during vessel interventions.

You provide technical support and prepare technical interventions, analyze operational challenges, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our customer’s fleet.

This is not a sailing or crew position. You are primarily based at Belgian headquarters and support the vessels remotely, with occasional visits to vessels, shipyards, suppliers, or project locations when technical assessments or preparations are required.

By working across multiple vessels you will gain exposure to a broad range of technologies and contribute directly to the operational success of our client’s activities worldwide.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare technical solutions for maintenance, repair, mobilization and upgrade activities on vessels.
  • Develop work preparations, technical documentation, budgets, resource plans and safety assessments to ensure smooth execution.
  • Support the maintenance and reliability of specialized equipment throughout its lifecycle.
  • Investigate technical issues and recurring failures and collaborate with reliability and operational teams to identify sustainable improvements.
  • Contribute to the integration of systems on new and existing vessels.
  • Provide technical expertise to procurement teams and support the evaluation of suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Perform technical assessments on board vessels and in shipyards when required.
  • Collaborate closely with vessel crews, operational teams, equipment manufacturers and fellow engineers.
  • Stay informed about developments and innovations in offshore equipment and maritime technologies.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Electromechanical Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
  • 5 years of experience in a complex technical engineering environment, does not necessarily need to be vessels/ fleet.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in maintenance, vessel mobilizations, asset reliability and system integration.
  • A hands-on and pragmatic team player who enjoys working across multiple disciplines.
  • Comfortable working in an international environment with diverse stakeholders.
  • Willing to travel occasionally to vessels, shipyards, suppliers or project sites. The position is predominantly HQ-based in Belgium.
