Job summary

KU Leuven invites applications for a PhD fellowship linked to the EQUIP project, aiming to optimize digital uptake through blended micro-certifications for frontline extension in Ethiopia. The scholar will join a cross-institutional effort to strengthen HEWs and DAs via inclusive, low-bandwidth digital learning and design-based research.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related fields.
• Demonstrate research readiness through a strong master’s record and feasible concept note.
• Aptitude in digital pedagogy, adult learning and inclusive low-bandwidth design.

Responsibilities

• Develop a rigorous doctoral proposal and equity-adaptive research protocol.
• Conduct literature review, stakeholder needs assessment and baseline research.
• Obtain ethics approvals and ensure data protection compliance.
• Coordinate iterative design, pilot, evaluation and redesign cycles for health/agriculture tracks.
• Evaluate access, usability, learning outcomes and practice changes with attention to gender and remote locations.
• Collaborate with HEWs, DAs, supervisors, AMU/AMCTE staff and policy partners.
• Produce progress reports, manuscripts and conference contributions.
