KU Leuven – Faculty of Medicine / Biomedical Sciences is offering a fully funded Doctoral Researcher position in Biomedical Sciences. The successful candidate will join a leading research group, working on translational research with state-of-the-art facilities and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The doctoral researcher will design and conduct experimental studies, analyse complex data, and contribute to high-quality publications.

Qualifications

Doctoral Researcher in Biomedical Sciences (PhD Position)

KU Leuven is offering a fully funded PhD position in Biomedical Sciences within its internationally renowned research environment. The successful candidate will join a leading research group focused on advancing scientific understanding in biomedical and translational research. This position provides an opportunity to work on innovative research projects with potential impact on human health, while benefiting from state-of-the-art facilities and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The doctoral researcher will design and conduct experimental studies, analyse and interpret complex biological data, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field through high-quality publications. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate research records, collaborating with team members and external partners, and presenting findings at scientific conferences and seminars. The candidate may also assist in teaching-related activities, including supporting laboratory sessions and mentoring students.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Medicine, or a closely related discipline
  • Strong academic performance and demonstrated research interest in biomedical sciences

Required Expertise/Skills

  • Solid foundation in molecular biology, cell biology, or related biomedical disciplines
  • Experience with laboratory techniques relevant to biomedical research
  • Ability to design experiments and analyse scientific data
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team
