Vector Synergy in Brussels, Belgium seeks an experienced database specialist for a B2B contract requiring NATO Secret clearance. You will install, configure, maintain, and upgrade PostgreSQL 12+ and MySQL 8.0+ databases with a focus on high availability and security.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, backup and recovery, and performance tuning using tools like mysqldump, MySQL Shell, Percona and XtraBackup.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience in at least one of the database technologies MySQL or PostgreSQL and 2+ years in the other database technology
• Strong knowledge of MySQL architecture and InnoDB storage engines
• Hands-on experience with backup tools such as mysqldump, MySQL Shell, Percona and XtraBackup

Responsabilités

• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade standalone and clustered database instances (PostgreSQL 12+, MySQL 8.0+)
• Perform routine database maintenance including schema housekeeping, index maintenance, statistics updates, and data retention support

Skills, knowledge, experience required:

• 5+ years hands-on experience in at least one of the above database technologies (MySQL or PostgreSQL) and 2+ years of experience in the second database technology (MySQL or PostgreSQL);
• Strong knowledge of MySQL architecture, storage engines (InnoDB);
• Hands-on experience with backup tools like mysqldump, MySQL shell, Percona, XtraBackup.

Desirable:

• Experience with cloud-managed MySQL platforms (AWS RDS/Aurora, GCP Cloud SQL, Azure Database for MySQL);
• Familiarity with MySQL Shell, Orachestrator, ProxySQL or HAProxy;
• Practical experience with pgvector.
