Job description

Official title: Technicien Electricité Moyenne Tension F/H (Medium-Voltage Electrical Technician)

Location: Tournai (Hainaut), Belgium, with travel to customer sites | Employment information: Full-time field role; possible on-call duty

Within the Electricity construction-sites department, the Medium-Voltage Electrical Technician will support industrial customers through planned maintenance, corrective intervention and technical follow-through on their medium-voltage installations. The role requires more than identifying a technical issue: the technician is expected to evaluate anomalies, suggest appropriate corrective action, record the intervention and track completed work. Alongside equipment inspection and diagnostic duties, the position includes the careful preparation of installations through isolation and safety operations, as well as participation in commissioning and other operational activity.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance on industrial customers’ medium-voltage installations to help sustain their reliable, safe and available operation.
• Undertake corrective maintenance when the condition of a medium-voltage installation calls for technical intervention.
• Conduct tests, inspections and diagnostic work on medium-voltage equipment as part of field assignments.
• Work directly on medium-voltage cells, transformers and the associated equipment covered by the intervention.
• Complete isolation and lockout activity and secure installations before the relevant work is performed.
• Contribute to commissioning tasks and to operational activity involving the installations served by the department.
• Recognise anomalies in the equipment or installation and put forward suitable corrective actions.
• Prepare intervention reports and follow the progress of work once it has been completed.
• Follow the applicable quality, safety and environmental procedures, including participation in on-call duty when service needs require it.

Qualifications

• Hold a BTS in electrical engineering, a CQ qualification or equivalent technical training relevant to the advertised medium-voltage work.
• Bring initial practical experience working on, or maintaining, medium-voltage electrical installations.
• Be able to interpret electrical diagrams used in the diagnosis, maintenance and operation of installations.
• Demonstrate sound core knowledge of electrical engineering for work on medium-voltage equipment.
• Work rigorously, remain attentive to safety and follow the procedures applicable at industrial customer sites.
• Be suited to field work, able to contribute in a team and capable of working autonomously on assigned activity.
• Hold a B driving licence for travel between the Tournai base and different customer locations.
• Be willing to work at the different industrial customer sites served by this onsite position.

Skills and Competencies

• Apply preventive and corrective medium-voltage maintenance methods during industrial customer-site interventions.
• Use testing, inspection and diagnostic techniques to assess medium-voltage equipment in the field.
• Read electrical diagrams to support maintenance, fault investigation and operational work on installations.
• Draw on electrical-engineering fundamentals when working with cells, transformers and related equipment.
• Support commissioning and operational tasks connected with medium-voltage installations.
